Dear friends and colleagues,
Yes, the time has come when the programme has finally come to what we believe to have been a very successful end.
DC10plus network has worked hard to address social, economic, environmental and service delivery through the smart use of technology through Its unique collaborative network of local authorities and their partners from industry, government, academe and civil sectors.
Dedicated to creating partnerships, sharing good practice, developing new initiatives and influencing policy the DC10plus network has been helping local authorities and their service delivery partners to empower people and connect communities through technology and innovation.
During its three years the DC10plus network founder members have supported and empowered many hundreds of people across the country and enabled great steps forward in terms of digital inclusion – a list of developed products and their links to other initiatives have been moved to our partners at the LG&ID’s ESD Tool-Kit and I encourage you to look at these and think how they can be used by or for your organisation, and contact the people who have worked so hard to make a difference.
The network has grown from the founding 10 members to over 3,500 organisations and across the public, private and third sector – individuals, industry – all of whom are committed to “helping to empower people and connect communities through innovation and technology” and we know you will carry on with this into the new challenges we all face in this economic climate.
We must continue to push this agenda as being part of the solution and not seen as an additional burden.
In partnership with yourselves we have led the way in showing that the smart use of technology and innovation tackles health and social inequalities, creates educational opportunities, creates jobs, tackles climate change, and improves service delivery – not a bad job really!
We must thank the many people we've worked closely with over recent years, particularly the team in Nottingham particularly Lucy French for their work with the website, Elie Stoneley for her marketing, networking and social media skills (do keep on following http://www.twitter.com/dc10plusnetwork as @dc10plusnetwork will continue) and the DC10plus board for their support, committment and hard work.
We hope that you will continue to stay in contact with us (my details can details can be found here.)
So once again many thanks and I wish the very best seasons greetings and good fortune for the coming years.
Stephen
